Nativity Biscuits
with minimalist decoration
I followed the directions as closely as I could. And I was confused but everything worked out okay in the end.
Ingredients
250g butter, softened
1/2 cup icing sugar (I powdered some sugar in a spice blender)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg, room temperature
2 1/2 cups of plain flour (in this case, spelt)
1/2 cup cornflour
For the icing I combined powdered sugar with cornflour, water and some colouring.
Method
Beat butter, sugar, and vanilla until pale and creamy.
Add egg and beat until well combined.
Sift flour and cornflour over butter mixture.
Mix well.
Gather dough together and refrigerate till firm.
Using cutters, cut shapes.
Arrange on lined biscuit sheets.
Bake at 170 degrees C for about 15 minutes or until golden.
Remove from oven and allow to set on trays before transfer to wire rack to cool.
Decorate by dipping biscuits in coloured icing mixtures.

Their Christmas Appeal has started: contribute to gifts for the children. Alternatively, assist with the goal of making the orphanage electrically self-sufficient. The cost of electricity is rising everywhere, including India.
